SUB 86 - coming soon to Middlesbrough

THURSDAY APRIL 26TH - MIDDLESBROUGH INSTITUTE OF MODERN ART, MIMA - 5.30PM START 6PM KICK OFF

'Sub 86' is an event about remembering local history through play - specifically through a match of the classic tabletop football game 'Subbuteo'. A communal game with two human teams controlling the two plastic teams recreating the 1986/87 season opener of Middlesbrough versus Port Vale. Each side will be captained by a special guest and everyone is invited to come to this free event and take part or spectate, drink tea or bovril from a paper cup, and recreate the spirit of '86. Because this was a time when Middlesbrough had narrowly survived liquidation, being locked out of their home ground and having to practice at schools and prisons. Even by the time of the Port Vale match things were not quite back to normal and this will be reflected in what will be a unique gaming experience....
